

One of minimalism's pioneers, Reich (b. 1936) has developed
a highly personal language of composition. Early in his career Reich wrote
extended pieces that hinged on small musical gestures, sometimes just a
single chord, developed through repetition and slight variation. Since the
1960s, Reich has explored his Jewish identity from historical and spiritual
angles, writing dozens of important works. Here
