Tangerine Dream Recommendations

In the late 1960s the German trio of Tangerine Dream (Edgar Froese, Christoph Franke, and Peter Baumann) marked a new path in music via synthesizers, sequencers, and other electronic manipulation for a spacey art music never heard before. The sound was at once both soothing and unsettling, combining dark atmospherics with lovely, ethereal synth, influencing a large number of dance artists while spawning the genre later known as ambient.
Here are Tangerine Dream's essential recordings.
